This 8x2 LCD display module is powered by voltage 5V or negative
voltage 3V. Backlight is optional, you can choose module with
backlight or without it. There are a lot of combinations for
backlight, for example, yellow-green, blue, white, amber, red, and
RGB backlight. This 8x2 character monochrome LCD display has
built-in IC AIP31066 offering a selection of fonts, including
English/Japanese, Western European, Eastern European, Scandinavian
European, Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic, etc. Default
interface of RYP0802B-Y 8x2 LCD display is 6800; if you require
interface such as SPI or I2C, they’re also available, but the IC
will be replaced with RW1063.

Features Of Character LCD Display
LCD character modules are “characteristically” simple display
devices known for their very low power consumption and long-term
reliability. They are designed to display alpha-numeric characters
in preset patterns and do not have the flexibility one may think of
when considering an LCD as a computer monitor or television. In
most cases, they are small displays only displaying 8 or 16 or 32
characters, utilized for status reports and small level
communication.
In many LCD modules, there is no backlight present, meaning it
operates in reflective mode. This means that ambient light is
required to see the display characters through the use of a
reflective element behind the liquid crystal assembly. In other
regards, it operates as a backlit LCD, with a polarized light
blocking crystal structure enabled by applied voltages.
LCD modules are commonly seen in calculators and other electronic
devices where some visual communication is required for reasonable
operation. Printers, microwaves, pagers, and digital watches are
some other examples. This form of display is also quite common
among electronic hobbyist for the cost, efficiency, and ease of
operation that they provide.
